Karin Ridgers is the founder of VeggieVision TV, an internet television station with programs which promote veganism. She is also the Founder of MAD Promotions, a public relations company that helps vegan products, services, and events gain publicity through celebrity contacts, media releases and networking opportunities. As a passionate writer, she has written articles for Vegan Food and Living Magazine, The Parents’ Guide, Vegetarian Living Magazine, and The Vegetarian Society, as well as other online publications and media channels. For her noble work promoting veganism, Karin received the Shining World Heroine Award from our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) in 2008.

Karin begins by sharing her transition to a vegetarian diet thirty years ago and how reading a book by Supreme Master Ching Hai changed her life forever. In that chapter our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai explained the reality that when we consume meat, we are eating the carcass of a dead animal-person, and that resonated with Karin. After being a vegetarian for five years, she connected with a Vegan Prisoner Support Group. Upon seeing their loving work, she wanted to leave all animal products behind and switch to a fully vegan lifestyle.

Karin Ridgers is the loving mother of her 16-year-old vegan son, Callum. She shares some insights into her pregnancy as well as raising a vegan child. Karin feels that being honest and age-appropriate when discussing vegan topics with your children is essential for them to best understand why it is important not to consume animal-people. Communicating with your child and figuring out their favorite healthy vegan foods and how they like them prepared is key to keeping them satisfied and content.

Often, children understand the importance of being vegan even more than adults because of their inherent love and connection to our animal-people co-inhabitants.“If you go to an animal sanctuary, you see the cows there, you see all these animals. Not one child is ever going to say, ‘That’s my dinner.’ They are not going to do that because it’s in them already to absolutely love animals and respect animals.”
