A WEMA HOME project that has been running independently since 2009 involves the upcycling of plastic bags. Women collect used bags and cut them into strips. They then use these pieces to crochet bags, hats, purses, and cell phone cases. The participant gain extra income from the goods sold. WEMA HOME has a partnership with “One Dollar Glasses.” This is a German charity that enables underprivileged persons in the developing world to acquire eyeglasses for the cost of just on dollar. To what extent does WEMA HOME endeavor to achieve sustainability in its projects? “Sustainability is a 100% given, because we only initiate the projects and they will be continued by the Beninese themselves.” We asked Marianne Dötzer what wisdom she has gained from her many years of charitable activities in Benin. “Through my work, I have learned a lot, especially about being calm, being patient, having perseverance, and trusting in people, and knowing, okay, they will know what they are doing here.” Marianne Dötzer is a member of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association, and we asked her how the Quan Yin Method of meditation and Master have influenced her benevolent work. “I helped me a lot because I have confidence and trust in Master. If something was too difficult and things don’t move forward, then the inner Master will tell me when the time is right. And not to be desperate, but to move on, to continue, to go on. And She is with me! Supreme Master TV is a very good reminder so that we can develop our Noble Quality more in a positive way. Supreme Master TV is a great platform that reminds us or shows us good things that happen around the world.”
