Karin Ridgers (vegan), from Essex, United Kingdom, is the founder of two businesses, VeggieVision TV and MAD Promotions, as well as a radio station host for Phoenix 98 FM.Karin’s aim for VeggieVision TV is for non-vegans to develop a fun and positive outlook on veganism. “That’s what we want to do, inspire non-vegans to make a change, to look at what they’re eating and just question it: ‘How did that get on my plate? Is it the healthiest option for me? Did anybody have to suffer or die for my plate?’ But to do so in a really friendly, positive, upbeat way; we’re not threatening anybody. And that’s what I strive to do every day since reading Supreme Master’s book nearly 30 years ago.”Since founding MAD Promotions, Karin has promoted some of the largest global vegan events. Every year since 2014, Veganuary has challenged people to eat only vegan foods for the entire month of January, to promote health, protect the environment, and end animal-person factories and slaughterhouses. In 2022, Veganuary had over 629,000 participants across 228 countries. “Being vegan, it’s just increasing constantly. It is the biggest growing thing. My goal and my dream was always to make a life for future vegans easier.”Karin shares some valuable insights she has learned throughout her career. “So be honest, be supportive, don’t put people down, and to really build people up, especially if they’re on in their early days of being a vegan.” For anyone considering going vegan, Karin’s message is: “DO IT!”Lastly, Karin would like to thank our Most Cherished Supreme Master Ching Hai for publishing the book that inspired her vegan journey 25 years ago. “I just have to say Thank You. Thank You because that book changed my life and gave me the power and the inspiration to, I hope, (make) the world a better place. And it all started with the book from Supreme Master Ching Hai. Thank You.”
