In today’s news, Norway supports vulnerable people in Mozambique, study finds United Kingdom’s timely actions to protect the homeless saved lives, California, United States to phase out fossil fuel vehicles, capital of United Arab Emirates to construct large indoor produce farm, good sportsmanship by triathlete from Spain garners praises, companies developing alternative proteins gain large capital boost globally, and volunteers in India distribute drinking water bowls for the animals.

Norway, a Shining World Leadership Award for Humanitarianism recipient and a Shining World Leadership Award for Animal Protection laureate, supports food security in northern Mozambique.

The government of Norway donated approximately US$1 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). The funds will be used to provide vital food assistance over a period of two months for 32,000 internally displaced people in Cabo Delgado province of Mozambique. Since 2019, Norway has contributed US$3.1 million in humanitarian aid to Mozambique. Our gratitude, Norway and United Nations World Food Programme. May the hospitable people of Mozambique be well and cared for, in Heaven’s grace.

United Kingdom’s measures to protect homeless individuals from COVID-19 is found to have saved many lives.

In a study published by The Lancet Respiratory Medicine journal, researchers used computer modeling to assess the results of the UK government’s COVID-PROTECT system, which involved infection control and providing safe accommodation for people experiencing homelessness. Considering multiple possible scenarios, the model indicated that the preventative measures may have averted over 21,000 infections, 1,164 hospital admissions, and 338 ICU admissions, while saving 266 lives among the homeless. The UK government is a Shining World Wise Leadership Award and Shining World Leadership Awards for Animal Protection and Kindness laureate. Many thanks, researchers, for your important study. We are grateful, United Kingdom, for your efforts in protecting vulnerable citizens. In God’s love, may all governments consider similar life-saving actions especially during the coming winter.

Up next on Noteworthy News, California to phase out fossil fuel vehicles. We now pause to thank the skillful forklift operators who transport heavy goods around warehouses, factories and construction sites. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more exemplary news.

Hi joyful friends, I’m Luke the vegan Red-billed Leiothrix. Where does my endless energy come from? Plants! Be vegan. Today’s tip is a recipe for a do-it-yourself car air freshener, so you can avoid buying diffusers made from chemicals. All you need is a mason jar, baking soda, and an essential oil that you like, such as lavender or peppermint. First, pour baking soda into a mason jar until it is two-thirds full. Next, add 20 drops of your selected essential oil. Place the lid on the jar and shake it well. Then punch holes in the lid. Voila − you now have a sweet-scented air freshener for your car! You can also make an even simpler version by applying 5-10 drops of essential oil on a wooden clothes pin and clipping it onto your car’s air vent. Thank you for your attention, and much love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all humans and us all co-inhabitants. Here’s the weather around our beautiful globe.

Governor of California, United States, moves to end gasoline-powered cars.

The Honorable Gavin Newsom, a Shining World Leadership Award for Loving Care laureate, recently signed an executive order to ban sales of new gas-powered cars within 15 years. He also asked that the state’s lawmakers end new oil and gas fracking permits by 2024 to curb the warming effects of fossil fuel burning and extraction. California is currently home to 34 electric vehicle manufacturers and the industry is their second largest export. Way to go, Honorable Gavin Newsom, on your bold and forward-thinking order to mitigate the impacts of climate change, which have been witnessed recently in California’s wildfires. We join world citizens in welcoming more such courageous acts of leadership to save our world.

Abu Dhabi to host the world’s largest indoor farm.

Known as GreenFactory Emirates, the facility will be jointly built by rainMKRS, a capital investment company based in Abu Dhabi, and GrowGroup IFS, a farming solutions company from the Netherlands. GreenFactory will feature both flat and vertical farming on 17.5 hectares of land, and produce 10,000 metric tons of produce every year. Furthermore, the facility will use 95% less water than conventional farms, and decrease its carbon emissions by as much as 40%, while also reducing waste involved in transportation. Bravo, rainMKRS and GrowGroup IFS, on your crucial project providing fresh vegetables to people. Wishing your nation abundant harvests and contentment, in Allah’s blessings.

Triathlete shows true sportsmanship.

During the 2020 Santander Triathlon in Barcelona, James Teagle from the United Kingdom was on course to winning third place when he went the wrong way less than 100 meters from the finish line. Fellow triathlete Diego Méntrida from Spain passed him, but upon noticing the error, stopped to allow his competitor to cross the finish line before he did. For his fine act of sacrificing his bronze medal, the organizers awarded Mr. Méntrida honorary third place with the same due prize money of €300. Mr. Teagle also lauded Mr. Méntrida’s “unexpected gesture.” For his part, Mr. Méntrida humbly explained that he was merely acting in the manner his parents and sports club had taught him. With a big round of applause, we salute you, Diego Méntrida. May your upright spirit of fairness be an inspirational example for us all, in the delight of the Divine.

Coming up, companies developing alternative protein gain large capital boost. We are going to take some time to thank God for always patiently guiding us along the True path. We’ll be right back with more heartwarming news, here on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Happy News for a Joy-filled World.

Report finds major investment in alternative proteins in 2020.

A new report by The Good Food Institute (GFI), a United States non-profit organization, revealed that alternative protein companies globally raised up to US$1.5 billion of funding in the first seven months of 2020. In particular, companies developing fermentation technologies have received a record US$435 million in venture capital over the same period. This is an increase of almost 60% compared to investments in the method during all of 2019. Fermentation technologies use microbes like microalgae and mycoprotein to create new functional ingredients, produce biomass, and enhance plant proteins. Dr. Liz Specht, Associate Director of Science and Technology at GFI, stated, “Fermentation is powering a new wave of alternative protein products with huge potential for improving flavor, sustainability, and production efficiency.” Our warm thanks, The Good Food Institute, for this exciting information. In Heaven’s light, we pray for more awesome innovations to fuel the shift towards a vegan world.

Activists in India distribute water bowls to ensure no animal goes thirsty.

When Sunny Jain from the southwestern Indian city of Tumkur noticed a dog drinking from a dirty puddle one day, the caring man placed a bowl of clean water by his house. Within a couple of days, it was used by many canines, cats, cows, goats and birds. This inspired the kind man to form a group called Water for Voiceless, which has since distributed over 17,000 water bowls across six other cities all over the country, including Chennai in the east, Delhi in the north, and Mumbai in the west. The organization’s pure and simple goal is to make clean drinking water available “for the animals in every part of India.” What incredible dedication and kindness, Sunny Jain and all members of Water for Voiceless! May the Providence bless you and the animal friends you so lovingly help to sustain. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Water for Voiceless, plus a US$10,000 humble contribution toward this benevolent endeavor, in Heaven’s grace and mercy. May God forever bless you and all involved.”

When we relax, we can think clearer, so let's have fun with the joke of the day entitled “Zigzag Ride.”

“Sir! What were you doing? Your car was zigzagging like crazy!”

“I’m learning to drive.”

“Without an instructor in the car?”

“Oh, yes. It’s an online course.”
