Kumgang Mountains means “Diamond Mountain.” Like it’s name, the granite peaks and hillsides glitter magnificently in the sunlight. Located on the eastern coast of Guangwon Province in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula, the Kumgang Mountains has been much loved by Koreans since ancient times. Mountain Kumgang is part of the Baekdudaegan, which is the largest and longest mountain range in Korea, forming the spine of the peninsula along the eastern coastline. The mountain’s highest peak, Birobong, rises 1639 meters above sea level.
