We have a useful tip on an action you can take to keep your outside animal friends warm this winter. Use a pre-manufactured animal-resident house, a wooden box, a foam cooler (perfect for cat-people), or even a sturdy cardboard box. Insulate the shelter using foam boards, old blankets, or plastic on all sides, and line the floor with an old sleeping bag, coats, fleece, cedar shavings, straw, or hay. Be sure to check the bedding daily. Damp or dirty bedding can be dangerous, even fatal to your furry friend. Turn the shelter away from the wind and cover the entrance with heavy plastic or waterproof burlap. For extra warmth, place the shelter in a garage, on a covered porch, or beneath a carport, and raise it a few inches off the ground to keep the cold out. Also, check the water bowl frequently to prevent freezing; glass and ceramic bowls can crack when water freezes. Outdoor animal-people may need more food in winter, so put out some extra food to keep them energized.

This joke of the day is heartily approved and highly recommended by your local laugh-out-loud association. This one's called “Going Home.”

Stan was venting to his best friend, Bob.

“I just don’t understand today’s world. My son wears an earring. My daughter has a tattoo. My wife’s salary is twice that of mine.”

“So, what are you going to do?”

“I’m thinking of going home to my dad.”
