Practicing basic movements while seated in a chair is a safe and easy way to loosen up and gain some self-confidence. For the first exercise, simply shrug your shoulders slowly up, and then let them down. Try to do at least five repetitions, but no more than 10. The second exercise is for your legs. Lift one foot off the ground at a time, from the hip. To help keep your balance, you can hold the sides of the chair seat with your hands. As with your upper body, repeat the lifts at least five times for each leg. Make your comfort a top priority and listen to your body’s response to the gentle workout.
