Dear Supreme Master Ching Hai, I wish to convey to You my deep respect and to express my gratitude to You for presenting the “Shining World Compassion Award” to Tamara Tarnawska, who founded the SOS Animal Shelter in Kyiv, Ukraine more than three decades ago. Tamara is an indefatigable fighter for the rights of animals.
I have known Tamara since 1995, when I first watched a television news program about her work. I volunteered and supported her as I could. I visited the shelter less often after I had my first child in 1999, but have maintained contact with Tamara over the years. She has been through a great deal of trauma, especially after the Russian invasion, but has remained strong, resolute and resilient.
