Among the many famous rock and roll bands that began in the 1970s, few remain as admired and loved as the Swedish group ABBA. One of ABBA’s lead singers is Her Serene Highness Princess Anni-Frid Synni, Dowager Countess of Plauen. Better known as Frida, the Princess has also been successful as a solo singer and songwriter and has released many lasting hits loved by many enthusiastic fans of different generations.

Frida was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of ABBA, and their song “I Still Have Faith in You” was also nominated at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in the Record of The Year category. In addition, Frida has been honored with music prizes such as the Eskilstuna Music Prize and the Swedish music prize Rockbjörnen for Best Female Artist. While flourishing in the artistic realm, Frida also dedicates herself to charity work. She is a vegetarian and advocates for the well-being of Mother Earth. Her charitable endeavors also extend to child welfare and working for the less fortunate.

In 1972, the two talented couples formed the band Björn and Benny, Agnetha and Anni-Frid, and the next year renamed it ABBA, an acronym standing for Anni-Frid, Benny, Björn, and Agnetha. The group’s major breakthrough came when they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with the song “Waterloo.” The single went on to become a No. 1 hit in several countries, and was the beginning of ABBA’s path to worldwide fame. From then on, the band’s career took off. ABBA embarked on several European tours and produced immensely popular hit singles such as “SOS” and “Mamma Mia.” By the time of their “Greatest Hits” and “Arrival” albums and the singles, “Fernando” and “Dancing Queen,” ABBA had rose to international stardom.

Frida has been a vegetarian since 1990 and an earnest supporter of the fight for a better environment. As she states, “My fight for the environment comes from the heart.” “I don’t eat fish. I only eat vegetables since the last 15 years. That’s my expression of my awareness and the fact that I’m looking out for my health as well.”
